Tuition should not be free for students and why is someone entitled to a free higher education. First of all, where would this “free” schooling funding come from, taxpayers? If someone wishes to educate themselves further they should be responsible for paying for their own schooling and if they cannot afford it there are a few different options such as O.S.A.P funding.
If college and university became free I speculate that taxes would grow largely for all income brackets causing the overall average net worth of Canadians to decrease due to a higher percentage of their income being taken away. This would cause the lowest income percentage for Canada to grow and would take more money away from the poor.
I think making college free will perpetuate the idea to young adults that they are entitled to having everything handed to them and deserving of things without hard work. I believe this mentality that is created by the far left ideology will cause lower grades and will create unattentive and unenthusiastic students because they are used to having everything handed to them without hard work. This will also create poor unqualified employees that feel they don’t have to work hard to get a job. If I am correct about this then some of the taxpayer’s money that went to one of these careless students was just wasted.
I believe that when you are paying for something yourself you are more likely to treat it with care and ensure it lasts. There are already plenty of students that do jack shit in their courses, so free college will allow more of these types of students to just say “hey its free, why not” and continue to waste taxpayer money
