When I first read the article from week three my first reaction was shocked, because of the fact that there is an organization that releases a list of endangered animals every few years. Just the fact that we need an organization to bring this to our attention to ensure we don’t drive certain species extinct is scary.  I also found it surprising that no one really paid them much attention, which is also scary because it shows that people simply don’t care.

All the information in “60% of the world’s wildlife has been wiped out since 1970”  is completely foreign to me so I can’t really say if it’s changed my mind or not. The article has definitely convinced and educated me on a subject that is quite new to me.  The article talks about how in previous years they would take a biodiversity survey on birds living in the remote mountains of Peru which is virtually untouched, so you would expect the biodiversity there to stay at a constant level.  Due to such low pressures the birds live in, somehow they are affected by carbon emissions and global warming. Eight of the species previously found in the mountains were not reported there in the biodiversity survey.

I think a big part of the change lies Individually because……, and I know it sounds cliche, but if everyone would do a little it would change a lot. For example, if everyone drove electric cars and used less electricity within the home this would help a considerable amount.  I also believe that responsibility lies upon the government, more specifically it’s up to the federal government to put laws into place to protect the environment, then its the responsibility of the provinces and municipalities to uphold and enforce the laws.
