Writing is not a doddle. Neither for a beginner, nor for a highly skilled writer. As Anne Lamott says,” Even after I’d been doing this for years, panic would set in”. I felt that panic too. I typed in the blog, deleted some sentences, retyped it and deleted again like a million times. I even felt very miserable for that.

When Anne Lamott says, “The first draft is a child’s drafts” means the writer spits out all the ideas, thoughts, quotes, he’s been listening all his life. He piles up all of them in a terrible way just like an eight year old child making a sand castle on a San Francisco beach. Thinking that no one is going to read his draft. But when it comes to an experienced writer, you have to see the draft through the reader’s eyes. Writing draft at that point becomes really difficult. All your quotes and ideas are wiped out because you can’t choose which one to choose. The writer has to go through other’s work to get some really startling ideas.

According to Anne Lamott, writing is not natural, and never was. Neither for a beginner nor for an experienced writer. After making some progress in the writing field, the writer might feel ashamed while reading his first draft. But he must not feel ashamed because it brings up several new ideas. Furthermore, the writer must know that problems are meant to be solved. They should never become a huddle in your way to success.
