Wikipedia is an immense source of information. However, it works as an open foundation where anyone from anywhere can contribute at any time. The information added can be genuine. But in most of the cases it is vandalism, off beam or an incomplete piece of information. These types of errors may be fixed by some genuine volunteers. Whereas, many of these errors can remain unobserved for a very long time. Maybe for years. This is the main reason that Wikipedia is an untrustworthy source of information.

It is also the main reason that teachers bar their students from using Wikipedia as their primary source. Because when children use internet, they are unaware about the authenticity of the information. However, Wikipedia provides its primary and secondary sources to its users the bottom of every article. Another reason could be that the information provided on Wikipedia is distinctive. No matter the reader is a thirteen-year-old child or a doctorate.

I totally agree with the teachers who prohibit their students from using Wikipedia as their primary source because it is not a scholarly resource. One way or another, it is a very wonderful source of information in some cases. But due to its feature of being edited by anyone in the world. The accuracy of the information becomes questioned. Secondly, in this era, most of the children are addicted to their handheld devices. Though they have become very lazy. So, when they use Wikipedia, they don’t try to understand because all of the work is already done for them. Whereas, when they listen in classroom, they understand better.
