This I Believe(460)

I Believe most of the fundamental gun laws regarding what guns civilians are legally allowed to own and carry should remain the same. I also believe that many of the left-leaning news platforms present a false narrative of what’s actually going on in America and other countries by using cherry-picked statistics.

piers Morgan talks about the fact that gun deaths are higher in the United States than in his native country England, which is true but is very misleading. First of all majority of shootings are gang-related and a large portion of those guns are illegal firearms and also a chunk of the shootings are also suicides, so these to parts of the data inflate the data. In Piers Morgans country their violent crime rate is sky high compared to the united state, this is due to the fact that people can no longer protect them selves without their fire arms. If you look at the united states violent crime rate it is fairly low compared to England.  Another important piece to look at is the amount of crimes and violent crimes stopped by guns in the US which is significantly higher than the amount of gun deaths.

I can provide an example that supports my this I believe statements where the current gun laws helped to stop a shooting and where the left doesn’t report stories that go against their narrative. On November 5, 2017, a man shot up a Baptist church in Texas killing 26 people that day, the shooter was stopped by a local man named Stephen Willeford who lived near the church, Willeford perused the shooter in his bare feet armed with his AR-15 and put a stop to the shooter. This was the most fatal shooting in Texas history and still, many people living in Texas and the US have not heard of this shooting.  Generally, when there’s a mass shooting of this caliber everyone with access to a television, smartphone or even a newspaper will get word of the terrible indecent this is including Canada

I would just like to say before I wrap this up I don’t believe the gun laws are perfect in America, I think the government could come up with some better more efficient ways to keep guns out of the hands of mentally ill people to reduce the number of mass shootings. I just don’t believe banning certain guns will make any difference what so ever

And for all these reasons and more this is why I believe that majority of the gun laws set  in  place in America should remain the same, and that some left-leaning stations only report on stories that support their agenda
