The world is changing nowadays at a very fast rate. Machines are replacing humans for a great variety of fields. Also, it is helping us to be faster, efficient, etc. in many fields as well. Even in communication, technology is gaining importance.

There are many ways in which technology has destroyed our social skills. One of them is through instant messaging over the internet. This thing has overtaken our society so much that people are more comfortable while texting to each other rather than meeting, talking, interacting with each other. I don’t think that it is a good thing. So, just imagine your child being not able to tell you about his feelings. What he likes, he wants, he dislikes, having trouble in life, etc, he couldn’t tell you that thing. That would be a great loss to our new generation for not even letting express their own feelings.

This thing has gone too far that, people who want to express their love to someone, they want to do it on messaging applications. People don’t understand that experience which adds up to their life while they were talking to someone is way more than anything else. Just feel the deficiency of that skill. It is mostly ignored by most of the people of the society that this thing has to be focused on. If not focused, those days will not be far when you will never see people interacting with each other. Just think of that, how ugly that life would become by not meeting your friends, family, others in reality, but only on video calling, messaging.

In today’s era, there is a lot of variety of food. Also, there are many different types of food categories which were not in the market in early days. Now, every person has a lot of variety that it has become a common situation to see people getting puzzled in a Food Court area and everyone ask themselves, ‘What should I eat today’. Mainly, Food categorize into two things i.e. Vegetarian or Non-Vegetarian.

There is an argument that everyone should be vegetarian. I think, there should be no rule to restrict people to choosing their meal. Vegetarian people argue that it’s because of Non-Vegetarians, animals are getting killed but, that’s the rule of nature- ‘Survival of Fittest’. This is pure historic thing that even, aboriginal people were killing animals to live. Just think, if animals were given chance to be free, won’t they kill us? Obviously Yes, that the rule.

Some people also say that doesn’t it bothers non-vegetarians to eat someone’s child. It’s depended upon perspective as even, vegetarians eat food of many herbivores’ animals. So, it’s all depended upon perspective. No one has right to decide what others should eat.

Moreover, vegetarians don’t fulfill the basic vitamin requirements, as most of the vitamin B12 were vegetarians. So, they have to eat meat in order to be healthy as vitamin B12 is really very healthy for our Physical as well as for our mental health. Furthermore, to have proper protein rich diet, people have to eat meat as amount of protein per gram in meat is much more as comparted to what in vegetarian source.

Writing a profile is not an easy task, at least not for everyone. A good way of writing anything to write in drafts, so, each drafts can be better than previous one and eventually, final one would be the best of all. Refining each and every draft during the process of writing is an important task. I did that too and it affected my piece of writing very well.

My first draft was very simple with some grammatical mistakes, authentic voice and some citation problem. During writing my Draft 2 I considered my all mistakes but still, made some other mistakes like explanation problems and some reference formatting. I didn’t know my mistakes until my teacher commented on my draft 2 on my website. So, now I am looking forward to correct my earlier mistakes and not making new ones.

Even my teacher commented on my Profile draft 2 about my citation mistakes and some other explanation issues. I will try to focus more and try to review all other drafts to take out best things out of them and somehow, insert them in my final version. So hopefully, my final version will contain only positive points from each drafts.

I think I focused enough on vivid explanations like taking seeing sensation to explain about ‘Best Buy’. So, points which I will be looking for to create a good Profile would be correct spelling, correct format for reference, authentic voice, etc. I have enough time to do my final version of profile so, it’s better to think more rather than creating in hurry.

Every coin has two sides. Similar to that, every person has their own strengths and weaknesses in different kind of fields. For instance, a person might be good at studies but not in sports. In the case of writing, some writers might be good at writing autobiographies, but one might not be good at writing profiles.
In my case, I am good at writing profiles because I love to write in a descriptive way. I am the kind of person who always likes to explain things in a simple language as well as like to learn in a simple language. I think it’s because of these personality traits, I write in a descriptive way. Also, an easier way to write good profiles is better observation. Good observation will lead us to have a different perception of things which we want to write on.
In writing my Profile Draft 1, I will look forward to using a better vocabulary as I know that whenever I write, I write in the easy language. While writing my TIB (This I Believe), I was trying to have a different perception with a clear mind every time whenever I was editing my drafts. For improving vocabulary one can use the internet to explore more words and use them in their articles.
On TIB (This I believe) Draft 2, my teacher commented,” Make your personal story more specific; it is too general. Proofread for grammar, capitalization, punctuation and word choice errors. Also, look for left-out words.” (M. Isaac, personal communication, February 8, 2019). For solving this issue, I have to start with a fresh mind and use grammatical tools to check on my grammatical errors.

Writing is an art which is not given to everyone by birth but, only some special ones get that. In an article by Beth Shope, “True writing is Rewriting”, he wrote that it’s nothing written, it’s rewritten. He also wrote about different tactics to be looked when rewriting.

In his article about rewriting, Beth mentioned the comparison between writing your first draft and building a house. Whenever I try to write my first draft, most of the times, it has some structural mistakes so it’s similar to a builder who produces a house with structural flaws.

Most of the times, I found difficulties in writing my second drafts. As, writing the first draft is just putting ideas on paper but, the second draft have to be in a proper way and somewhat better than the draft. While writing the next drafts, it’s better to be without any prejudice to make our rewriting more effective. That’s why Secret #2 was really important to me.

According to me, Secret #1 was the most important. In Secret #1, Beth explained about writing that, once is never enough and also compared the topic of rewriting to building a house. He elucidated in the article how some builder-built houses over decorated and cluttered. In the article, Beth writes “Anyone can think up a story and write it down. This doesn’t necessarily imply talent, only the ability to type (or hold a pen), ……….but skill is not a prerequisite.” (B. Shope, True writing is rewriting, 2002), which is actually true as the actual value of writing is about the capability of rewriting. Writing down your ideas on paper can be done by anyone so then, what will be the difference between professional writers and regular writers.

Profile writing is totally different from writing another kind of writings. Writing a profile can be about a person or anything but it should be written in a way that describes completely and includes every detail of that thing so that, the reader can visualize completely about that topic. One of the great written Profile is “The Last Stop” by Brian Cable. In his Profile, he wrote about the feeling he has about mortuaries, death and a complete description of a visit to Goodbody Mortuary.

According to me, the most descriptive passage in this profile was the 5th paragraph as It contains all the explanation an unknown person to have to know about Mr. Deaver. Brian wrote everything about Mr. Deaver starting from the tip of his hair on top up to the tip of his foot at the bottom. Brian used personification to attribute Mr. Deaver to a WWE wrestler “Undertaker” as he said ” I found the funeral director in the main lobby, adjacent to the reception room. Like most people, I had preconceptions about what an undertaker looked like. Mr. Deaver fulfilled my expectations, entirely. ” (B. Cable, The Last Stop, 2002). Then, Brian explained about his face, eyes, face, etc.

As we saw that in the profile – The Last Stop, how descriptively Brian told his readers about the structure of mortuary and about the funeral director. This proves that how strongly descriptive nature of profile affects your overall profile. This style of writing profiles helps us to let readers imagine everything about what we are writing which is not the same in the case of the visual profile because viewers can see.

Interviewing someone seems to be an easy task but believe me, it’s not. Taking an interviewing of someone is same difficult as giving your final exam in school, these two things are very much alike as in both cases, we prepare, we have one chance, we want to do best in it, and we learn from them. As Jory MacKay describes in his blog-” How to interview like a journalist (no matter what your job is)”.

In his blog, he wrote about the proper way to prepare before taking someone’s interview and make us familiar with two important terms like persistent and preparation. He also told us about the types of question we should ask and finally, non-verbal clues like body language.

Body language, while interviewing someone is one of the most significant factors to be considered to have a proper interview. It is important because it shows how we feel while we are questioning someone as Jory said in his blog about the importance of body language –“So much of what someone is telling you to go beyond the words themselves and being blissfully unaware of those signs can ruin all of the hard work you’ve already put in” (General Interest, April 6, 2015, Jory MacKay). So, as Jory described it makes a clear observation to the interviewee that whether we are confident about what we are asking him? or whether we are fully prepared for this interview? or they want us to end this conversation? or they are interested in our questioning as same as we do? and this makes vivid to interviewee about us and our interpretation about our question.

BLOG – Three “The Last Stop” – (281 words)

Brian Cable profiles the Goodbody Mortuary. Do you think it is a well-written profile of this building/business? If so, what makes it strong? If not, how could it be improved?

Death? Everybody go nuts by listening to this term, but it is an inexorable part of our life and nobody can change it. People have different reactions by listening to this word. Due to different thinking and religions of people, they have different way of dealing with this, like in different religions there is different way of dealing with dead body of any person. Goodbody mortuary is a place designed to do cremation and funerals in a methodical way in San Diego.

Brian Cable have elucidated many things about death and Goodbody Mortuary when he visited there first time in a profile “The Last Stop”. In this profile, he explained almost everything about the Goodbody Mortuary in a very detailed concept as he described the feelings he had experienced during entrance, when he saw funeral director for the first time in a very ironic way by comparing him to the WWE wrestler- “The Undertaker”.

Brian wrote robustly and vividly about funeral’s home in a very descriptional way as he describes the feeling he had at that moment whilst he was going further in Mortuary. The main feature of his profile about this building is that how he conveyed his feelings about almost everything and how the things are done in this morgue gradually as he finally encountered Funeral Director and wrote more about his looks. Furthermore, as he was explaining about a deadly somber term, so called “death”, he was explaining the condition of Mortuary, for instance its condition, last time it was decorated, comfortable lobby, Clean desk of Director, etc. with a powerful sense of humour.

“The Last Stop” is a perfect profile which interpreted practically everything a person needs to know about that.

Wikipedians Do It for Love. Really- Blog 2 (277)

Is Wikipedia credible? Why do so many teachers prohibit their students from using it as a research source for essays and reports? Do you agree or disagree with these teachers’ position? Explain.

Every coin has two sides. We know that there are a lot of things in this world which are beneficial for children as well as detrimental, these can be Mobile Phones, Games, Internet, etc. In Internet, there is a website called “Wikipedia” which is a non-profitable organisation which provides various articles related to every work-field, every company, etc. Wikipedia is a Fifth-most-visited website in the world and still it is a non-monetized website.

Many students retrieve vast knowledge from this website and further uses in their studies, but many teachers prohibit their students to check Wikipedia as a helping guide for their work due to number of reasons. I am Partially agreeing with this statement as Wikipedia is a boon to the world to have most of the knowledge at one place so, it will save our time as wandering around huge World Wide Web consumes a lot of time. Wikipedia also has a lot of hyperlinks in it so that, if people didn’t understand a term in any type of article , they can just click on the term and they have a different article to explain that term. It also allows public to edit articles so that no false information is getting transferred to other people and, they can add additional information regarding to that.

Whereas, up to some extent, teachers are also correct as to gather information some children just rely on Wikipedia and don’t use their own brain to do work which they should do. Wikipedia is just for the reference purpose not for copying and pasting material that’s why, teachers restrict the usage of Wikipedia as a resource page for writing essays and reports.

Shitty First Draft – Blog 1 (278 words)

Question 1 : What does Anne Lamott (2005) mean when she says, “The first draft is the child’s draft, where you let it all pour out and then let it romp all over the place…” ?

Ans:  As we all know that children are like a immature person and are in a developing age-group . So they don’t have any idea of how the life is working and how the Life-cycle goes on, similarly, when a person tries to write his first draft, he thinks that he is immature, inexperienced and don’t have any idea of writing , like how to start and in what order each and every sentence should be typed, and many more. Anne Lamott wrote in her article about the “Shitty first Drafts” that when you start writing for the first time, you just type everything and every thought on the piece of paper and after that, you can just read it again on next day and can shape it in any way you want to . In this way you can edit , can retain the ideas you want to and can delete the thoughts which you are thinking is not appropriate. As Anne Lamott described in her article that most of the successful writers does same and even they don”t have any idea of what they are writing at the first, so they just write and shape it . In this line –“The first draft is the child’s draft, where you let it all pour out and then let it romp all over the place…” , she means to use an analogy in which she just relate the idea of immaturity and inexperience related to what we ( child and writer) are doing. Also as children play roughly , just like that, writing for the first time is like putting your ideas roughly, unorganized on a piece of paper.
