Cole Sprouse was born in Arezzo, Italy where his parents were teaching at an English language school. He began his career in acting when he was only eight months old along with his twin brother Dylan who was born minutes before him, following a suggested career from their grandmother. As Cole grew older, his career became more serious in movies and tv shows like, Big Daddy,The suite life of Zack & Cody, The suite life on Deck and many more. Currently, Cole still acts and is lead actor named “Jughead” in a show called Riverdale, as well as new movie called Five Feet Apart, where he plays an actor named Will Newman. 

            In 2011, Cole attended Gallatin School of Individualized Study, studying archaeology. While in school, Cole was fighting with depression which lead him to the hobby of photography. Even though Cole is an actor, he decided to pursue a side career in the discourse community of Photography. 

Everyone underestimated his skills with photography. This career started as just a hobby to help keep his mind off of things and to express his feelings in other ways, but his skills and career improved into something bigger. Cole has created some very impressive images of Kendall Jenner, Sophie Turner, and Sam Smith for magazines like Sunday Times, W magazine, and L’Uomo Vogue. Although Cole uses models for his photography, you can see the passion he has for scenery within the background of the photos, which is how he started his career in this discourse community. 

            I believe that Cole Sprouse excels in this discourse community because he turned something negative into something that has become an outstanding piece of work, as well as a creative talent that keeps developing as he continues to build this career of photography while he pursues a career in the discourse community of acting. 

There are many different types of conflict that occurs in the discourse community of photography, but I believe that the main one is trying to get a successful job in this field. The conflict with this is trying to get your name out to the world of people who looks for those in this community. Also, most of those who go through schooling for this community end up using the degree more as a recreational activity because no one knows who they are or what their art is like. As well as there are many others in this field, leaving jobs unavailable.

            There is a lot of competitors in this field and ways that people get their name and work out is by creating social media accounts. This can be difficult because it also requires to follow many people to get their attention to follow you back. Also, you have to constantly post and advertise your work. It can become a hustle to keep up with all your different accounts, but it can be worth it in the long run for getting your name out into this community. 

            Another conflict in this field can be long term debt because if someone goes to school to be a part of this discourse community and then cannot get successful job in this community due to lack of available jobs and not being able to get your name out can lead to not making enough money to pay back their schooling loans.  

            I believe that to resolve these types of issues is to start advertising and trying to get your name out while you are in school for photography, as well as joining clubs and volunteering to interact with others to line up a potential job or business partner within this discourse community. As a result, this can resolve the conflict that I have discussed.

Recent trends that have changed within the community of photography is the design of cameras. They are always changing and advancing, but recent marketers are creating cameras that have one lens that can do everything that is needed instead of having to go and buy new lenses for every different use whether it is for nature images, zooming in, or out, or even catching a moving object on camera. I believe that the main goal of this is creating one product with all the needs and wants of the photographers to help them succeed with their work.

            Also, another trend is what people want to see. Everyone has different interests, but photographers change effects of their photos while editing, depending what style is wanted by their fans, or what other photographers are using. Different styles that are used are the colour of the image. Some want vivid colours and others may want grey and dull colours. With this happening, marketers change how they advertise and what features their target market needs and wants, when advancing their technology. 

            The third trend accruing in this community is traveling. Photographers go into this field to travel and capture pictures where others have not been or see. This is a huge trend because their target is to take photos that others have never seen and to be successful in this field you need images that their competitors do not have. By doing this, you need to keep traveling to continue the trend you have started for your fans to keep them interested in the art created.

            Overall, the main trend changing within the photography community is how the technology is changing and advancing and becoming into smaller cameras, or lenses. As well as what the target of who is interested in photography wants, and to fulfill their needs.

For photography you use and develop a variety of skills, but three skills that are transferable in this discourse community, as well as human resources are, patience, strong communication and team working skills. To take good photos you have to have patience because catching a good image, angle and lighting takes time, if you go to fast, the photo can turn out too blurry or dark. With Human resources you have to have patience because it can take time to solve a problem in the workplace like trying to solve a problem with fellow employees, you would have to interview and figure out ways to solve the issue.

            Now, for photography you need strong communication skills because you will be working with clients, you will need to discuss things like what kind of setting they would, where and arrange times and meetings that work for both you and them. For Human resources you need strong communications skills because you will be working with lots of people. For example, one of the main roles of Human resources is interviewing candidates for jobs, you need to know the body language and ask a variety of different questions to many different people.

            Lastly, teaming working skills. For both photography and Human resources, you will be working with people. In the community of photography, you need to be able to work as a team with your clients so you can help them get the photo they dream of to hang on their wall. This consists of picking the right angle together and listening to what you both think would look best. Human resources need team working skills because the role consists of training employees, to train you have to be able to work as a team to help reach the goal and skill levels needed to be successful in the work force. 

Most people see photography just as photos and they don’t see the true meaning of the art behind them. Since I was a child, I always had an interest in art, but I could never draw or create my own work. I was drawn to photography because I found that it helped me relax and also brought joy to others faces when they saw my work of nature or people. My favourite types of photos to take are of sunsets, or anything nature related because it captures the true beauty of our world. Also, I realized that photography is a type of art because you can capture things that are important and memorizing to you or even others, so knowing this I felt even more passionate about my work because it was something I loved.

 All photography has a story behind them, whether it was a sunny day, an adventure or just for fun, the photos are important and have value just like a painting would. For example, the right family photo has the value of how your family interacts, the memories you made while getting your professional photos done and being able to happily show them to others with pride.

Photography can be easy, but also tricky because it does require some skills that need to be used when capturing the right photo at the right time. Knowing the angles and how to capture the right lighting are the main keys to a quality photo, as well as knowing the proper editing and adjusting required. In conclusion I believe that passion, meaning and skills are what make photography a piece of art.
