In Module two you will get the opportunity to learn more about Fleming College services. We realize that there is a lot of new terminology and several systems to figure out when you first start at Fleming, so we will stick to those items that are most crucial to get you set up and started at the college. Here you will find,<\/p>\r\n<ul>\r\n\t<li>Faculty Centre<\/li>\r\n\t<li>Class Cancellations<\/li>\r\n\t<li>Course Outlines<\/li>\r\n\t<li>Faculty Timetables<\/li>\r\n\t<li>Absences<\/li>\r\n\t<li>Paycheck<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<p>Many of these can be found on the left sidebar menu on the homepage of myCampus.<\/p>\r\n<p>Stop #2 is Academic Operations<\/p>\r\n<p><a style=\"background-color: #ffffff\" href=\"http:\/\/department.flemingcollege.ca\/ao\/academic-training\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">https:\/\/department.flemingcollege.ca\/ao\/academic-training\/<\/a><\/p>\r\n<p>Once you arrive at Academic Operations, take a look around. This department is aptly named. It literally is the hub of all of the Academic Operations (timetables, workloading, etc.)<\/p>\r\n<p>We highly recommend starting with:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/department.flemingcollege.ca\/ao\/attachment\/50\/download\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">How-to Guide for Faculty: Introduction to PeopleSoft (Evolve) Services<\/a><\/p>\r\n<p>Stop #3 on the Fleming myCampus portal tour has you locate the many services available to support you and your students. Look in the Fleming Services Directory (from the home page of the myCampus portal) to find:<\/p>\r\n<ul>\r\n\t<li>Counseling Services<\/li>\r\n\t<li>Tutoring and<\/li>\r\n\t<li>Academic Skills<\/li>\r\n\t<li>Indigenous Student Services<\/li>\r\n\t<li>International Student Services<\/li>\r\n\t<li>Accessible Education Services<\/li>\r\n\t<li>The Library<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<h4><span style=\"color: #808080\"><strong>Coping with Workload and Pace<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\r\n<p><b>Sustain growth and avoid burnout<\/b>: Sustaining growth in teaching involves continuing to learn. You can avoid burnout and continue to improve in many ways, such as taking advantage of professional development opportunities, soliciting regular feedback on your teaching, continually reflecting on your teaching practice, and making improvements.<\/p>\r\n<p><b>Balance your workload<\/b>: Set priorities at the beginning of your workweek and schedule the time in your calendar that you need to accomplish them. While you are at it try scheduling some social, family, and recreational time, as well as, the time you need for working on other projects or other jobs. A good place to familiarize yourself with the ups and downs of the academic year is by looking at the <a href=\"https:\/\/flemingcollege.ca\/admissions\/academic-schedule\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Academic Schedule<\/a> &#8211; you can find it on the Fleming myCampus portal home page on the right-hand side under Important Dates.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n<p><b>Use quick relaxation techniques<\/b>: There are lots of relaxation techniques to help manage stress, from journaling and meditation to smiling and laughter. You probably have your own favourites. In the College environment, it may be helpful to add a few techniques to reduce stress and address your different roles and responsibilities. For example, you can manage stress by scheduling frequent breaks when sitting for extended periods, meeting with colleagues for support, and attending professional development sessions.<\/p>\r\n<p><b>Use Positive thinking<\/b>: Studies show that our experience is influenced in large part by our perspective. You can shift your thinking to become more positive by reevaluating your expectations, seeking small wins, focusing on achievements rather than deficiencies, and seeking social support.<\/p>\r\n<p><em>adapted from Grasha, A. Make sure you know who you can call on for quick advice.
